Pierre Delanoe penned the lyrics of some of France’s most renouned pop songs. His work has been interpreted by a long list of historic performers ranging from Gilbert Bécaud, Dalida, and Johnny Hallyday to Elvis Presley, The Everly Brothers, and Nina Simone in translation. His memory is today honored by a yearly songwriting and performance award, which is geared to promote emerging talent. Having been shortlisted for the 2008 nomination, I will be playing at the closing ceremony, hosted by French singer-songwriter Francis Cabrel, at the Olympia in Paris on June 2nd.
